Just like Cyprus, the Czech Republic is a member of the European as of May 1, 2004. The country’s population exceeds 10 million inhabitants. Czech is the official language, although most of the younger generation are well familiar with the English language while the older generations are also familiar with Russian. The country's currency is the Czech crown. At this moment 1 euro is equivalent to about 27 Czech crowns.

Brno is the second largest city of the Czech Republic, in eastern Moravia, with a population of about 500,000 inhabitants. The City was founded in 1243 by Wenceslaus I. The city was not only a center of industry and trade, but also of education and culture. Brno has its own Greek element as Alexander Ypsilantis had his home in Brno between 1788 and 1791. Today a street in the neighbourhood where he used to live, reminds us of the area’s Greek past (Ypsilantiho street)

In Brno there are at least six state universities with over 80,000 students, thus making the City of Brno a very attractive choice for studies in the heart of Europe. The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno was founded in 1918 and the first students enrolled at the university in November 1919. It is the only university in the Czech Republic which offers studies in the Veterinary sector.

Moving in the city of Brno is very easy by tram, bus or even on foot. Although Brno has its own airport there are no direct flights from Cyprus. Our students usually choose a direct flight to Vienna or Prague, from where they can take a bus or train to Brno. There are regular buses from the airport of Vienna or Prague to Brno. Travelling time is about 90 minutes from Vienna and 2.5 hours from Prague.
