Brno is the second largest city of the Czech Republic, in eastern Moravia, with a population of about 500,000 inhabitants. The City was founded in 1243 by Wenceslaus I. The city was not only a center of industry and trade, but also of education and culture. There are at least six state universities in Brno with over 80,000 students, which make the City a very attractive choice for studies in the heart of Europe. The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno was founded in 1918 and the first students enrolled in November 1919. It is the only university in the Czech Republic which offers studies in the Veterinary sector.
